What makes your office special, setting you apart from other practices?
Upon every visit, you will see the same doctor who started the practice over 20 years ago. We pride ourselves on fostering a family friendly atmosphere. Dr. Helms implements current techniques while maintaining treatment goals for aesthetics, functions, and stability. Each person and every smile will receive a unique and custom treatment option based on individual needs. Our team is compassionate, detail-oriented, and very particular; every person in our practice receives regular training and keeps abreast of the most current orthodontic techniques and treatment options.
Our office is equipped with high efficiency technology including a 3-dimensional imaging center, an intra-oral scanner, electronic patient doctor communication, clear esthetic braces, Invisalign clear aligners, and monitored sterilization.
What is the history or background of the practice?
Dr. Helms opened the practice in 1997 on Meridian Street in Washington, IN as the first orthodontist in Washington and Daviess County. In 2017, we relocated to a larger, more convenient patient-centered facility. We have expanded from 1 to 11 employees, and serve patients regularly from a 60 mile radius.

What is a little known secret about your practice that patients wouldn’t know?
Combined, our doctor and staff have 116 years of experience in orthodontics and dentistry, 24 years of post-secondary education, and 22 degrees and technical certificates. Dr. Helms is a faculty member at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, has lectured to dental groups about her specialty, and has published research pertaining to orthodontics.

If you could give one piece of advice what would it be?
Compliance is the winner in successful treatment. Elastics, brushing, avoiding, hard and sticky foods, and wearing removable trays and retainers correctly will provide you with the results you desire. Following protocol allows for efficient treatment and progress.
